Authorities in Torkham have seized 525 pieces of various weapons and ammunition that were allegedly being transported from Pakistan into Afghanistan. The cache was discovered in a vehicle carrying Afghan migrants crossing the border, officials confirmed.
Large Cache Intercepted by Security Forces
Ghulam Rahman Haidari, Deputy Governor of Nangarhar Province, stated that intelligence and special forces carried out the operation. According to him, the seized items include 27,000 rounds of ammunition, 200 bundles of primacord, ten M4 rifles, ten laser devices, ten binoculars, 17 TT pistols, one Kalashnikov rifle, and 497 assorted handguns.
He described the seizure as a significant step toward maintaining security and preventing the illegal movement of arms across the sensitive border region.
Two Suspects Arrested
Officials confirmed that one Afghan national and one Pakistani national have been arrested in connection with the case. Investigations are ongoing to determine the intended destination and possible network behind the smuggling attempt.
Security forces have increased vigilance at key crossings to curb arms trafficking and ensure stability in the region.
