Apple Inc. has announced plans to move part of its Mac Mini production from Asia to the United States, with manufacturing set to begin later this year in Houston, Texas. The decision marks a significant step in the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its domestic supply chain and expand advanced manufacturing capabilities within the US.
The Houston facility will not only handle assembly of the Mac Mini desktop computer but will also be expanded to include a new training center focused on advanced manufacturing technologies. This move follows Apple’s earlier commitment, announced last August, to invest $600 billion in the United States over the next four years. The company has been gradually increasing its US footprint through investments in research, chip development, and manufacturing partnerships.
By shifting part of its production to Houston, Apple signals a strategic pivot toward greater domestic manufacturing resilience while maintaining its global operations. The initiative reflects growing industry trends of diversifying supply chains and reinforcing production closer to key markets.
