Former Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar met with the Baloch diaspora in Denmark, highlighting Pakistan’s enduring role in promoting regional stability and stressing the importance of local ownership in Afghanistan.
Addressing the gathering, Kakar noted that despite extensive foreign financial and military support, Afghanistan’s political and security systems collapsed rapidly. “The Afghan experience demonstrates that sustainable stability cannot be imposed externally; it must be rooted in local governance and ground realities,” he said.
Pakistan’s Role and Regional Responsibility
He emphasized that Pakistan, despite limited resources, has consistently pursued a responsible regional policy, undertaking effective counterterrorism operations while maintaining institutional stability. The former PM praised the professionalism and resolve of Pakistan’s armed forces and state institutions, describing it as the foundation of the country’s resilience.
Kakar further argued that the Afghan situation validates Pakistan’s long-held position that peace and security must be built around indigenous solutions and local partnerships rather than external interventions. He urged the diaspora to foster national unity and promote constructive narratives abroad, portraying Pakistan as a stabilizing, pragmatic, and responsible actor in South Asia.
The meeting also included discussions on the broader regional landscape, with participants exchanging views on Pakistan’s role in advancing peace and stability. Kakar’s remarks reinforced Islamabad’s commitment to responsible diplomacy, emphasizing that sustainable solutions in conflict-affected regions must be locally owned and contextually informed.
