Grenade Attack in Northern Afghanistan Kills Three Taliban Personnel

Three Taliban personnel were killed and two others, including a camp commander, seriously injured in a grenade attack targeting a security camp in northern Afghanistan on Wednesday evening.

According to local sources, unidentified assailants threw a hand grenade at the vehicle of the camp commander, Mullah Waheed Farman, outside a Taliban security post on University Road. Two personnel were killed instantly, while the commander and two others sustained critical injuries. Mullah Waheed later succumbed to his wounds, bringing the total death toll to three. The deceased were identified as Shamsullah, from Helmand, and Aziz Pahlawan, from Gardez.

Witnesses reported that the attackers, riding a motorcycle, opened fire after the explosion and fled the scene. An anti-Taliban group identifying itself as AFF claimed responsibility, though the claim has not been independently verified.

In response, Taliban forces reportedly exited the camp and fired indiscriminately, creating panic in the surrounding area. Security forces later cordoned off the area and conducted a door-to-door search operation that continued late into the night. No official statement has been issued by Taliban authorities. Security remains heightened, and investigations are ongoing.
