Pak Navy Supports Pakistan–China Joint Oceanographic Cruise

The Pakistan Navy is facilitating a Pakistan–China Joint Oceanographic Cruise to strengthen marine research and maritime awareness. The National Hydrographic Office (NHO) is supporting the mission led by the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) in collaboration with China’s Second Institute of Oceanography (SIO).

Naval Support for Scientific Research

The Pakistan Navy has deployed its survey vessel PNS BEHR MASAH to assist the scientific expedition. The move reflects the Navy’s commitment to promoting marine scientific research and improving understanding of Pakistan’s maritime domain, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General Public Relations (Pak Navy).

Strengthening Pakistan–China Maritime Cooperation

The joint cruise aims to study coastal and offshore marine dynamics in Pakistani waters. Researchers expect the findings to support environmental assessments, maritime planning, and policymaking. The initiative also strengthens Pakistan–China cooperation and enhances regional knowledge of oceanographic conditions in the North Arabian Sea.
