Islamabad Terms Decision a Violation of International Law
Pakistan has strongly condemned Israel’s decision to register land in the occupied West Bank as so-called “state property,” terming the move a blatant violation of international law.
In a statement, the Foreign Office of Pakistan said that attempts by the occupying power to convert occupied West Bank territories into state-owned land and expand illegal settlements were unacceptable. The statement emphasised that such measures contravene international legal frameworks as well as relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly, urging the international community to reject these actions.
Pakistan warned that continued disregard for international law and unilateral actions by the occupying authority undermine prospects for a just, comprehensive and lasting peace in the region. It called upon the global community to hold Israel accountable and ensure adherence to international legal obligations.
Reaffirms Support for Independent Palestinian State
Reaffirming its longstanding position, the Foreign Office reiterated Pakistan’s full support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination. It stated that Pakistan remains committed to the establishment of an independent, sovereign and contiguous Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
The statement further warned that settlement expansion and land appropriation risk escalating tensions in the region and obstructing diplomatic efforts aimed at long-term peace in the Middle East.
Pakistan also urged the international community to take serious notice of unilateral actions in occupied Palestinian territories and play a constructive role in ensuring sustainable peace in the Middle East.
