Security Concerns and National Response
In a recent episode of the Pakistan Now Podcast, Rana Sanaullah, adviser to the Prime Minister, addressed pressing issues related to terrorism and national security. He discussed recent incidents in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, condemning attacks on civilians, infrastructure, and security forces.
Sanaullah emphasized that terrorism must be confronted with decisive action, distinguishing it from political disagreements that can be resolved through dialogue. Referring to controversies surrounding remarks made at a public conference, he noted that freedom of expression carries responsibility and that open debate should accommodate differing viewpoints.
He also raised concerns about external interference in destabilizing activities, calling for national unity to counter violent networks. According to him, eliminating safe havens and strengthening coordinated counterterrorism efforts remain critical to restoring stability in affected regions.
PTI Challenges and Call for Political Dialogue
Turning to domestic politics, Sanaullah commented on internal challenges within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He attributed recent organizational difficulties to leadership and structural weaknesses, while also addressing claims regarding Imran Khan’s health and detention conditions. He stated that such matters should not be politicized and should instead be handled responsibly through legal channels.
Sanaullah reiterated the government’s willingness to engage in dialogue with the opposition on political matters. He noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended invitations for talks, emphasizing that consultation between the ruling party and opposition is a constitutional responsibility.
The podcast discussion reflected broader themes of governance, stability, and institutional responsibility. Sanaullah stressed that constructive engagement, national cohesion, and a firm stance against violence are essential for navigating Pakistan’s complex political and security environment.
