UNSC Session on Iran–Israel War

Diplomatic Positions at the Security Council

During the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) session addressing the Iran–Israel conflict, Iran publicly thanked Pakistan, China, and Russia for what it described as their principled stance against US–Israel actions. The session reflected deep divisions within the international community over the unfolding crisis and the legality of cross-border strikes.

Pakistan’s Clear Position

Pakistan emerged as the only Muslim-majority country to openly and unequivocally condemn the US–Israel–led attack on Iran during the session. Islamabad’s position emphasized adherence to international law, respect for sovereignty, and the urgent need to prevent further regional escalation.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar, called for an immediate cessation of aggression against Iran. He stressed that continued hostilities risk widening the conflict and destabilizing an already volatile region.

Broader Implications

The UNSC debate underscores intensifying geopolitical polarization, with major powers aligning along competing strategic lines. As tensions escalate, diplomatic engagement remains critical to prevent further deterioration of regional and global security.
