US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State John Mark Pommersheim visited the newly established headquarters of the US Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP), underscoring the importance of education and innovation in strengthening bilateral ties.
During his visit, DAS Pommersheim toured the facility and praised the innovative resources and expanded opportunities available to Pakistani students and scholars. The engagement included an interactive session with alumni of US-funded exchange programs, reflecting continued people-to-people connections between the United States and Pakistan.
Speaking at the event, he emphasized that educational collaboration remains a cornerstone of the US–Pakistan relationship. Programs facilitated by USEFP, he noted, equip young professionals, researchers, and emerging leaders with critical skills, global exposure, and academic networks that contribute to long-term development.
Innovation as a Bridge Between Societies
DAS Pommersheim highlighted that innovation and academic exchange go beyond classroom learning. By fostering research partnerships, entrepreneurial thinking, and cross-cultural dialogue, such initiatives strengthen mutual understanding and trust between the two nations.
He described exchange program alumni as vital bridges between societies—individuals who carry forward shared values of knowledge, collaboration, and progress. Their experiences, he said, help build durable partnerships in areas ranging from science and technology to public policy and business development.
The visit reaffirmed a shared commitment to investing in human capital as a pathway to stability and prosperity. Educational exchanges and institutional cooperation not only enhance economic opportunities but also promote regional and global engagement.
As USEFP continues to expand its programs and outreach, the engagement highlighted the enduring role of academic diplomacy in shaping constructive and forward-looking relations between Pakistan and the United States.
