WASHINGTON: The United States Department of State has announced steps to impose visa restrictions on individuals in Uzbekistan identified as knowingly facilitating illegal immigration to the United States. The move underscores Washington’s stated policy of not tolerating attempts to undermine its national security or immigration framework.
According to officials the measures will target persons believed to be involved in networks that assist irregular migration or circumvent lawful entry procedures. The visa restrictions are expected to apply under existing US immigration authorities and may extend to associates where relevant.

The State Department emphasised that safeguarding border integrity remains a core component of US national security strategy. By restricting travel privileges the United States seeks to deter facilitation networks operating abroad and reinforce compliance with its immigration laws.
