Afghan Taliban Military Account Claims Start of “War” with Pakistan After Border Clashes

The Fragile Dance of Diplomacy: Istanbul Talks and Afghanistan's Internal Fault Lines

An Afghan Taliban-linked military account has claimed that hostilities with Pakistan have officially begun following alleged Pakistani airstrikes in eastern Afghanistan. In a statement attributed to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, heavy fighting reportedly started at 8:00 PM on Friday night in what it described as the “eastern zone.”

The statement alleges that Pakistani forces carried out airstrikes in Nangarhar Province, Nuristan Province, and Paktika Province. In response, border and infantry units of the 201 Khalid bin Walid Corps reportedly launched intense attacks on Pakistani military posts near the disputed Durand Line, particularly in areas of Kunar Province and Nangarhar.

The message described the escalation as retaliation and called on supporters to pray for Taliban fighters engaged in the clashes.

As of now, there has been no official confirmation from Pakistani authorities regarding the alleged airstrikes or cross-border fighting. Security observers note that tensions along the Durand Line have periodically flared due to disputes over border security, militant activity, and territorial claims.

Developments are being closely monitored amid concerns that further escalation could impact regional stability and cross-border security dynamics.
