At a six-nation security conference held in Warsaw, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi disclosed that approximately 22 terrorist organizations are currently operating and reorganizing inside Afghanistan. The revelation was made during high-level discussions with European counterparts on regional security and emerging threats.
Briefing on Border Developments and Security Challenges
While addressing interior ministers from five member states of the European Union, Naqvi provided a comprehensive briefing on recent developments along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border. He highlighted the evolving security landscape and underscored that Pakistan is effectively acting as a strong defensive barrier between terrorist elements based in Afghanistan and the wider international community. He emphasized Pakistan’s frontline role in counterterrorism operations and border management.
Focus on Migration, Counterterrorism, and Anti-Narcotics Cooperation
The conference was attended by the interior ministers of Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Finland, and Lithuania. According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior, detailed consultations were held on illegal migration, internal security, counterterrorism collaboration, and measures to curb drug trafficking.
Strengthening Border Security and Regional Stability
Participants also exchanged views on strengthening border security mechanisms and enhancing coordinated international responses to transnational threats. The discussions reflected growing European engagement with South Asian security dynamics and reinforced the importance of collective efforts to ensure regional stability and combat terrorism effectively.
