Visible, Verifiable Counter-Terror Measures
Pakistan and China called for stronger, visible, and verifiable actions to dismantle terrorist groups in Afghanistan. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi co-chaired the 7th Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue in Beijing on January 4. Both sides stressed preventing Afghan-based groups from attacking other countries. They agreed to stay coordinated on Afghan issues and to support inclusive politics, moderate policies, and development in Afghanistan. China praised Pakistan’s anti-terror efforts and protection of Chinese personnel and projects.
Expanding Cooperation and Regional Stability
The two nations reaffirmed all-round cooperation on counter-terrorism, security, trade, investment, and CPEC 2.0 projects in industry, agriculture, and mining. They highlighted Gwadar Port, Karakoram Highway, space collaboration, and Khunjerab Pass trade. Both countries supported multilateralism, UN principles, and regional stability, while backing each other on sovereignty and territorial integrity issues. They also called for an unconditional ceasefire in Gaza and support for a two-state solution in Palestine. The next round of dialogue will be held in Islamabad next year.
