ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office on Wednesday summoned the Afghan Deputy Head of Mission and delivered a formal demarche to the Afghan authorities following the terrorist attack in Bajaur on February 16 in which 11 Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom. The démarche conveyed Islamabad’s grave concern over cross border militancy and the continued threat posed to Pakistan security personnel.

Concern over TTP sanctuaries

According to official sources the Ministry underscored that the Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan operates from Afghan territory and that its leadership presence across the border remains a matter of serious security consequence. Pakistan reiterated its long standing position that Afghan soil must not be used against any other state and called for verifiable action against militant networks involved in attacks on Pakistani targets.

Call for cooperative security framework

Islamabad emphasised the importance of constructive engagement and coordinated border management to prevent further violence. Officials noted that regional stability depends upon credible counterterrorism cooperation and mutual respect for sovereignty. Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to dialogue with Kabul while urging decisive measures to dismantle terrorist infrastructure that threatens bilateral relations and wider regional peace.
