OIC Contact Group Set to Visit Kabul to Strengthen Engagement

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is preparing for a visit of its Contact Group on Afghanistan to Kabul. A technical meeting was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to finalize arrangements for the visit.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Jeddah said the meeting focused on organizational and technical matters. Participants discussed the agenda and reviewed key priorities for the upcoming engagement. OIC diplomats stressed the need for coordination among member states. They said a unified approach would strengthen the impact of the visit.

Officials also highlighted the importance of sustained engagement with Afghanistan. They noted that collective diplomacy remains essential for addressing regional stability and political coordination. The visit aims to enhance dialogue between Afghan authorities and representatives of OIC member states.

Diplomatic Significance of the Visit of OIC Officials

Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not issued a statement on the planned visit. However, analysts view the engagement as an important diplomatic signal.

University professor Omar Mukhtar Nikzad said the visit could open avenues for cooperation. He added that it may benefit the current Afghan government in policy formulation and international engagement. Political analyst Sayed Moqaddam Amin offered a cautious view. He said the visit may have limited sectoral impact but could still improve diplomatic relations.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation represents 57 member states across four continents. The body works to safeguard the interests of the Islamic world. It also promotes peace, dialogue, and coexistence among nations.

The planned visit by the OIC Contact Group reflects continued efforts to engage Afghanistan through coordinated diplomacy. It highlights the organization’s intent to maintain dialogue amid ongoing political and humanitarian challenges facing the country.
